    Sentosa Staycation @ 18 July 2011

Last week, we went for a one night stay at Sentosa Resort and Spa. We decided to stay there because there was a promotion offered for SIA staff, which I guess was a good offer because, at the Hotel, I saw their cheapest rates are like S$500 per night.

I found out that there was a shuttle bus to the hotel from Vivocity, so Baby and I met up at Vivocity, and took the free transport down.

The staff at the hotel were clearly non-Singaporeans, think they are from China, and one other thing i would like to comment about is that the bus first stops at the employees hostel, picks up the employees who are going to the hotel, before going to the hotel. Baby and I almost alighted at the employee's hostel, because no one told us that we were supposed to alight at the 2nd stop. Also, if I am a customer who is paying S$500 for the room, I wouldn't want to share a bus with the employees, would I?

Anyway, checking in was a fairly fast process, and soon, we got to our room. When you 1st go in, there is a small foyer.
Then, there's another door, which you have to open to get to your room. I thought that this was a very good design, because at night, we left the lights in the foyer on, and the door slightly open, so that a little, but not too much light, comes into the room.
Taking a peek into the room.
The room was spacious, with a king size bed, LCD tv, and plenty of wardrobe space. I guess people will need big wardrobes, if they plan to go to Sentosa for their pre-wedding shots, and decides to stay in the hotel.

Then, we realise, there's a second set of doors in the room, which leads to the......
    ...toilet!!
Atas shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and body lotion, from their own spa.
As always, my top priority when looking for a hotel, a bathtub! Spacious enough for 2! Don't ask me how I know.
There's a separate shower and toilet area, which was very inconvenient, because after relaxing in the bathtub, we had to walk to the tiny shower room for shower, and along the way, dripping soapy water.
Just to show where the door (entrance) and the toilet is located.
The view from our room. It's a peculiar hotel, because it's built on a hill. So even though our room is located on level 2, we had to take a lift down to level 2 because the lobby was built on higher ground. Anyway, the water was green with algae, but the overall view was pleasant.
Some in-room amenities, and freebies. They have this suitcase looking thing that is full of brochures, and also maps of Sentosa and Singapore for your convenience.
Below the TV, they had a small cupboard full of stuff, which are atas looking, except for the kettle.
They provided free TWG teabags! We didn't use any of them during our stay, but I took it all home because my sister loves TWG.
One of the drawers was full of snacks, and 2 small bottles of wine. The fridge was full of chilled drinks as well, but are all chargeable, so we did not drink any.
A drawer full of wine glasses, shows that it really is an atas hotel.
Tadah!!! The food we brought from Giant @ Vivocity, so that we do not have to spend money on food on Sentosa. Haha. Very cheapskate, but I like!
After we finished taking photos of the room, we decided to take a walk at the beach. Behind the hotel, next to the pool, there's a staircase that leads you down the hill and to the beach.

    Guess what we saw?
    A peacock!
    Another one...
    ...with it's baby peacock.
Although the staff in the hotel told us that the staircase leads to the beach, it was actually quite along walk to palawan beach. Took us ages to reach there, and the weather was HOT! Nonetheless, we had a short stroll along the beach and tried to have fun, which is really hard with the horrible weather.
Some failed attempts to take artistic shots. Haha. I really have no talent in art.
A coconut tree trying to stretch out for some sunlight.
We were very lucky to bump into an animal show on the island. It's like an animal show in the zoo, except it's not in the zoo. Here, you can see a monkey trying to pluck a fake coconut.
The next star is this parrot, which is smart because...
...it can do math! The numbers were random numbers given by the audience, for the parrot to add up, and...
    ...it's thinking...
...and it got it right!! It's amazing how animals can be trained like that. I guess you need a lot of patience to train animals because we don't speak the same language.
Then, we had some eagles, which I was damn scared of because they were flying really low, and close to our heads. I have watched this CSI episode about a parrot killing its owners with its claws, and from then on, I am wary of all birds with sharp claws.
Can you spot the eagle flying? Look how low it's flying!
Then, we had a pretty volunteer, from Brazil, to hold the python. Btw, it is an albino python, that's why it is white and yellow. A normal python is greenish-brown I think.
They had a plot where the python was missing, and was found by this husky in one of the boxes. It is a really big husky and I am glad it didn't run my way when he was looking for the snake.
All the stars of the show.
After the show, they put the python out for the audience to see, and feel the skin of the python. As you can see, everyone in the audience are tourists, except for us. Haha.
After the animal show, we walked back to our hotel. And we saw peacocks at the pool! I guess the weather was too hot for them as well, as they kept drinking water from the pool.
And some strange uncle wanted a picture with them. Hah!
When we reached the hotel, it was time for a relaxing bath! Incidentally, there was a heart in the tub! Haha. So romantic
After bath, it was time for dinner! Look at our sumptuous spread! Curious what is the kettle doing there, when we already have 100plus?
It's for our canned soup! It took us a long time to wash the kettle after that, so do not learn from us please, even though it was fun cooking.
We ordered fries from the room service menu, which costed us $9. The bucket was very big, and we couldn't really finish the fries. So I guess even though it's $9, for the quantity they give you, it's worth the price.
We had to order fries only because we needed utensils for our noodles. Haha. The fries came with 2 small cute bottles of ketchup, which we also took home with us. Haha. So it's REALLY worth it.
And that brings me to the end of our one day staycation @ Sentosa. Really hope we can do it more often, because I love staying in hotels, and I could use a break every now and then.
