Sunday, October 4, 2009 Finally started work. Not that i was looking forward to it, but things were not as bad as i thought they would be before i started. Well, I guess i cannot say that i ahve started work yet, since i have only had 2 days of induction and the whole of next week is going to be training. Some people told me that we will have tests to complete and if we do not pass the tests by the end o next week, our names will be sent to the partners! I'm seriously worried because my foundation is not fantastic, or more appropriately, i should say that my foundation sucks. =( Anyway, on the 1st day of work, we were given these "brief-boxes" (boxes designed to look like brief cases) and inside, there were a folder of information, which we need, a box of name cards, a financial calculator, pen, note book, a ziploc bag with thermometer and hand sanitizer, and we were given our KPMG passport, which will record our learning and growing process in the company. On the table, there were also KPMG thermo mugs given to us because they wanna do their part to save the world and cut down on disposable cups.   After work on the 1st day, i went to watch darling play bball with his colleagues at tiong bahru cc, a super duper inaccessable place. Luckily his manger drove us there and since he had to fetch his mum from the airport after that, he drove me home. =) On the 2nd day of induction, we played several games and had out welcome dinner at Grand Copthorne Hotel with 3 of our unit managers and a partner. Got to know more about what my unit does and they kept reassuring us that our lives will not be as bad as theirs when they started out as G2s. BTW, our company has abolished the OT system so when we do work overtime, we do not get paid and we do not get to claim the hours, which is quite unreasonable since i think that it's a comfirm that we WILL be working OT. Oh well.. ---------------------------------------------------- Darling brought me for teppanyaki for the 1st time!! Haha. i have never had teppanyaki before and 2 days before i started work, darling decided to bring me there. He was trying hard to cheer me up because i was dreading work. Hehe.  Perhaps it's nothing much to most people but i think it's delicious. Especially the seafood. Yums. ---------------------------------------------------- Lastly, i have been busy doing personalised pens for JJ. He had wanted to give his students pens with their names on it so i made 37 pens with his students' names.  Nice? He treated me, darling and my sister to NYDC as my reward for doing this for him and he spent more than 100 bucks. Haha. Abit expensive for a reward since he had to pay for the materials as well. Haha. That's all. Training starts tml and we will be getting our laptops too. Have to start checking my investments to see if i am still entitled to hold on to them. they have very complex rules and regulations. |
