    Phuket (14/7/2010 - 20/7/2010)

Phuket is a paradise for relaxing and enjoying yourself under the scorching sun. I really did enjoy myself there, so much that when it was time to come back, i was very reluctant. It was nothing like the previous places i have went to, where we either did alot of snorkeling or alot of shopping. Phuket was just relaxing and playing on the beach.

    Day 1
Our flight was delayed, from 8pm to 11pm. I was glad that it got delayed because I had no idea we had to check in 2 hours before the flight and I went to work until 6pm that day. Haha.

When we reached the Phuket International Airport, it was already past midnight and since i was still under the extremely drowsy effects of the motion sickness medication, i was feeling very tired and just wanted to get back to the hotel ASAP. Hence, we just took the cab of the 1st taxi driver who approached us and found out that we had actually taken an extremely expensive ride to the hotel.

Not only that, but the cab driver drove us to his company and we were introduced to the various trips provided by the company, which we were smart enough not to buy any, because my senior told me that there are stalls along the roads selling those trips at a cheap price.

When we reached the hotel, both of us were dead beat and we went to sleep almost immediately.

    Day 2
Well rested. We decided to walk to the shopping centre, which we found out on our way to the airport from the cheater bug cab driver, to get some drinking water and lots of snacks. Along the way, we saw a lot of motorbike rental stalls and checked out the prices. the most expensive one is THB250, but normal stalls rates are THB200 (S$9).

As i need my daily dose of caffeine, we went to Starbucks once we reached the shopping centre (about 30mins walk from hotel) and realised that a cup of Java chip frappe is more expensive than one day motorbike rental.

After coffee, we went shopping around the mall, as we had no plans for that day. In fact, we had no plans for the whole trip at all. It's just a do-what-we-feel-like-doing trip, which turned out rather well. Haha.

There were a few facial shops in the malls, which costs around THB300 (S$13) for 1 hr of facial massage and free shoulder massage. We decided we should come on our last day, as our flight is at night. As we had nothing to do, we decided to try out this shooting game in one of the stall, which is damn expensive, but i forgot how much, and the guns were supposed to be like real ones so they were damn heavy. I realised that i am a better shooter than baby as i can aim better. Haha. He thinks i'm rather good at this game.

At this shopping centre, i met my senior, who is 1.88m tall so he didn't see me but his wife saw me. Haha. We found out that we will be going to Phuket during the same period before we went to Phuket and his response was "我不会看到你的,因为我看不到." and he proceeded to swing his hands above my head. Apparently, what he said was true. He could see me because i am not within his range of sight.

After shopping, we went back to the hotel, and this time, we had the energy to take photos of the room. On our way back, we bought a BBQ chicken thigh and a bowl of spicy maggie mee from a roadside stall, as our lunch for the day. We spent like THB100 (S$4) for those, but we thought that the person must have charged us more since we're tourists.

We also walked the whole stretch of road between our hotel and the shopping centre to find out the prices for a trip to Phi Phi Island, which was highly recommended by my senior.

Tadah!! Our room!! The lights flickers, the water flow is inconsistent, the lights were so dim that we cannot really see clearly at night and the windows were dirty. But we still had a nice stay there because most importantly, there was no 阿漂 and the room was clean.

After slacking in the room for a while, we went for dinner. After which, we walk around and intended to go for a massage. Baby saw this pancake stall and insisted he wanted to try. We bought the nutella banana and he had a terrible stomachache soon after eating the pancake, i was very full from dinner so i only had 1 pc and my stomachache was very mild. We went back to the hotel, so that he can lao sai, and went to a nearby pharmacy to get charcoal pills. We missed the massage.

There's this plactic surgery clinic within 5 mins walk from my hotel. Haha. I wonder if people will go there for plastic surgery as the weather is damn hot and i don't think they can recover under the hot weather. Or maybe its for those who wants to transform to ahgua.

    Day 3
Finally, we went to Patong beach, which is a less than 10 mins walk away from my hotel. At the beach, you have to rent the chairs if you want to sit down and each chair costs THB100 for the whole day. However, the shop closes at around 6pm and after that, you can sit for free.

We paid for 2 chairs and sat down. Baby got hungry so he went to find food. He bought a coconut, which i hate, and a bowl of ultra spicy glass noodles. All the roadside stalls sells ultra spicy food. Haha. Actually you can add the amount of chili yourself, and as a chili fan, i always add alot, which resulted in the ultra spiciness.

After slacking on the beach, we went back to the hotel and slack some more and we went to Hard Rock Cafe for dinner. I have never been to hardrock before, hence, even though he kept complaining that it is expensive, he still brought me there for dinner.

The very friendly valet staff helped us take a lot of photos and kept directing us where to stand so that he can capture a good photo. If you notice, the photo on the bottom right actually has 2 hardrock guitars, one is actaully the reflection from the window.

After that we went to walk around to digest our food and we saw this restaurant selling a small shark. Haha. But i think the fin is too small to make shark's fin soup. Then we went back to one of the stalls to buy a trip to Phi Phi Island and Baby was able to bargain the price to THB950 per person, so we saved about S$4. Haha.

    Day 4
We went for Phi Phi Island hopping trip for a day. The speedboat ride was extremely bumpy, which resulted in a lot of the passengers vomiting, i was one of them. Baby had to take care of me because i was constantly feeling unwell on the boat. But once we reached a destination we got off the boat and try to have as much fun as possible to make up for the uncomfortable ride.

However, due to the weather, we were not allowed to snorkel at certain places and they only rode past the place and let us take some photos. As my motion sickness gets worse if i stand up, i did not even get to see the place. Haha. In fact, i had to shut my eyes during the ride so that i feel better. So, anything that happened during the ride was described to me by Baby afterwards. Haha.

1st stop was this place, i think it's called Monkey Bay, as there were a lot of monkeys on that island. Before we alighted the boat, the tour guides told us not to feed the monkeys as they may attack but then they gave us peanuts for us to feed to monkeys. As i was afraid to get close to the monkeys, due to the potential of an attack, i did not take any of the peanuts. One of the tourists in my group was scratched by a monkey.

The scenery on the island was quite pretty.

After Monkey Bay, we were brought to Phi Phi Don, the main island, for buffet lunch. As i have vomited all my breakfast on the boat, i was hungry and ate quite a lot. But all went to waste when i vomited my lunch out during the ride to our next destination. As we were going to snorkel, Baby bought bread so that he can attract fishes. Again, due to the potential of accidentally being bitten by the fishes, i did not feed them and hide behind him all the time, while he was feeding them.

After snorkeling, we were brought to Kai Island for us to relax on the beach. Baby bought a second loaf of bread to feed the fishes by the beach. There were a lot of fishes and he gave some bread to 2 kids who were trying to catch the fishes. Later, a lot more people came to get bread from him. People are just greedy.

We also net my senior on Kai Island, when he was about to board his speedboat.

When we were about to board the boat, we saw a crab near the anchor. The man trying to remove the anchor caught it, while it was trying to dig a hole in the sand, and baby took a photo with it before letting it go back into the sand.

Dinner was cup noodles in the room, as we bought cup noodles from the shopping centre and were worried we won't be able to finish them. After dinner, we went for a back and shoulder massage, which was damn worth it because they helped us massage from head to the feet. Haha. The massage ranges from THB250(S$11) to THB350(S$15) per hr per person, and varies from shop to shop.

    Day 5
Baby rented a bike, which he again managed to bargain from THB200(S$9) to THB150(S$7) for the day. As i was rather worried about his ability to ride a bike after so long of not practising, i told him to rent for one day 1st to let me gauge his ability. I was very worried initially and only allowed him to ride me to the shopping centre. But seeing that he really wants to ride to a further place, i decided we could ride to Karon Beach, which is not too far from Patong. Turns out that he can ride rather well if i keep nagging at him to throttle and to not ride so fast. Haha.

There was nothing much on the beach except for the huge waves. Due to the waves, no water sports are allowed, making it a very quiet and boring beach. We slacked there for a while, rented 2 chairs for THB200 again, and we went to a shopping place near the beach.

After that, we rode back to Patong and had seafood dinner. We had lobster, vegetable, stingray and pineapple rice. We could finish the food and had to pack back the stingray. After that, we walked around and baby bought a tie from one of the stalls. The person gave a price of THB1,250(S$54) and we managed to buy it at THB200(S$9) instead. Haha. We wanted to walk away when the person did not want to give in to our offer and he called us back and said "You win". Haha.

We also went to Bangla Street, where the nightlife concentrates. There were a lot of people on the street trying to get us to watch their shows, which are like Tiger Show, Smoking Show, Ping Pong Show, etc. I told Baby if he wants to watch, i can watch with him, but my intention was to let him watch and he cannot say that he want to watch in the future with the excuse that he had nv watched before. But he didn't want to. Afterwards, i found out from a colleague that the shows are actually females using their private parts to do all sorts of stunts. Luckily we didn't watch!!

After Bangla Street, we went for foot massage. Again, after the foot massage, the person helped us massage the shoulders and head, which Baby thought was very dirty but i thought it was ok since they are my body parts.

During the massage, we asked the girls where to go to on Phuket island and they recommended the Sunset Cape and Kata Beach, which they say is better and more beautiful than Karon beach.

    Day 6
Since recommended by the locals, we extended the bike rental for another day and rode to Kata Beach, was is slightly further down from Karon beach. There was definitely more things to do at Kata and more tourists. We had lunch at one of the restaurants along the beach and went to splash in the waves for an hour or two. Here, we got tan as the sun was extremely strong that day. While walking along the beach, we saw a topless ang moh lady, carrying her daughter and playing in the sea. We walked past her a few times on purpose to look at her. Haha. Her figure was so good that i want to 多看几眼 also.

As we are not confident of finding our way to Sunset Cape, we went back to Patong for dinner at No.6 Restaurant, which was recommended by the lady, who sold us tickets to Phi Phi Island, for cheap and good thai food. The food was indeed delicious, especially the phad thai. We also tried the green curry, which was too salty and we had to order pineapple rice in order to finish the green curry.

    Day 7 (Last Day)
Really sad that it was our last day at Phuket and amazed that time passes so quickly. So many people told me that 7 days was too long for a holiday at Phuket, but i felt that there are more things i want to do there. Sigh.

We just walked around the Island after checking out our hotel, as our flight was about 10pm (Singapore Time). Again, we totally forgot that we had to check in 2 hrs before until we went to book a cab and the person, the bottom left photo, reminded us. We had our last meal on Phuket at No.6 again, although he actually wanted to eat the roadside stalls. After that, Baby checked this phone and apparently, our flight was delayed to 11pm (Thailand Time), which is 12am (Singapore Time). We reached the airport too early for our flight and watch the shows we have downloaded at the airport.

This time, although i did not take the medication for motion sickness, i slept the whole trip back to Singapore. That the end of my holiday and i am looking forward to my next trip with him next year. =)
