Tuesday, May 17, 2011 Cleaning Day Since it is a public holiday, and I am not going out until in the evening, I decided to clean my table! Here's a before and after comparison. Before If you still see a mess on the right side of the picture, and you're wondering if I have done a proper job of tidying up my table, please note that the mess you're seeing belongs to my sister. That's her part of the table. ☺ Here's a photo taken at the Mother's Day dinner we had last week, at Ah Yah Seafood Restaurant, at Turf Club. The present we bought for my mum, which my sisters still owes me money for, is a wallet! I have chosen a more classy one for her, since we all thought that her current wallet is a bit too auntie-ish. She said she likes it but she isn't willing to change! She said she should use it only when she goes overseas, and needs to look more classy? Haha. Happy Vesak Day! 三步一拜 I went to volunteer at the 三步一拜, last Sunday, organised by the Singapore Buddhist Welfare Service, which is the place I attend my Buddhism classes every Sunday, at the Hougang Stadium. My duty was very simple. I just had to stand at the exit, which is the usual entrance to the stadium, and direct those who came to the correct entrance for the event. Although I did not take part in the 三步一拜, I managed to sneak into the stadium and watch the event take place. It was a very 壮观的仪式. 带领的师父穿着一件褐色的袈裟,跟的佛经的 rhythm,每走三步就跪下来拜一次。后面跟着很多穿着黑色袈裟的(归依了的人),跟着师父三步一拜。真的很壮观!Maybe I will take part next year! Fun facts:
Maybe I am just not ready, because I really do not think that going through a ceremony, will make me a real Buddhist, or a better Buddhist. Probably people who are ready will think so, since there are so many people ho have done that. Sunday, May 8, 2011 GE Is Over It's confirmed that we have lost our fantastic Foreign Minister, Mr George Yeo. I became a big fan of him in the later part of the rally period, after reading XX and many other people's tweets, watching this interview and videos on youtube. He had successfully portrayed himself as a very sincere man, and I am very sad that he had lost in the Aljunied battle (only because it means we lose him as a minister). I strongly believe that he had lost this election because of people who BLINDLY supports the opposition party. We have heard of many people saying "I am going to vote for the Opposition Party" or, "I am so happy that Opposition had won." And these people supports "Opposition Party" as a whole, regardless of whether parties like the Reform Party, has concrete plans for the country or not, they just don't want PAP to win. I am not trying to flame everyone who does not support PAP. I wouldn't mind if someone says, "I support WP because they have promised to change xxx", or "I am going to vote for SPP because their proposal for my GRC is better than PAP's". If you can give me a valid reason why you want to vote for one of the opposition parties, or why you prefer the opposition party over PAP in your GRC, then fair enough, go ahead and vote for your preferred party. I can tell you that I am not going to vote for NSP in Tampines because I don't agree with their policy to help divorced men look for rental houses, and I am 不爽 that they had a team of 5 males, no females. Yes, so as compared to NSP, I prefer PAP in Tampines. I would prefer a fresh coat of paint at my void deck, as compared to nothing, because that was what NSP Tampines have to offer. So, those who voted for NSP in Tampines, may I ask what did you like about NSP that made you vote for them? Which policy they proposed made you think that was better then what PAP has for us? Why was Tampines such a close fight? As for residents in Aljunied, thanks to you, we have lost a good foreign minister, which so many people had supported. Seriously, would you prefer to have LTK as our foreign minister? Did you really prefer a businessman as your MP but not a fatherly George Yeo? By the way, I am just sad that we have lost George Yeo as a Foreign Minister, so if you guys really prefers to have LTK serve you, then so be it. None of my business actually. Lastly, for those who are sour that SPP lost Potong Pasir to PAP, and are consoling each other that SPP will win the next round of elections, after Potong Pasir had finished their upgrading in 5 years time. This just makes you people the same as those, who chose not to give the opposition parties a chance, because you guys have closed minds and doesn't want to believe that PAP can actually do something for Potong Pasir. Seriously, if you don't live in Potong Pasir, don't make comments like "It's bad that SPP lost", because the residents may actually think that Mr Sitoh had proven himself, in the past 10 years, that he was actually not bad. Maybe they still think that Mr Chiam is better than Sitoh, but too bad he gave up Potong Pasir and went to compete in the Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC. Be happy/sad/angry for your own GRC, don't pretend like you know, or are very clever, and speak for other GRCs, unless like me, you're just sad that Singapore had lost a certain outstanding Minister. There is no "Opposition Party", choose one of the parties to support, and choose with a reason. Don't support PAP or the opposition blindly. Wrapping up: - Too late for anything to be done, with regards to Mr George Yeo. - I am very happy that Tampines didn't fall into the hands of an incapable NSP team. Thursday, May 5, 2011 Rally Crowd - NSP vs PAP Last night, NSP (National Solidarity Party - for the benefit of my Number 1 loyal reader, BX) held their rally in Tampines Stadium, and this was the crowd they had. Crowd or no crowd, I believe people should now already know by now, who they want to vote for. At least I do. ☺ Sunday, May 1, 2011 I realised a Secondary Classmate of mine is running for the upcoming elections, contesting in the Ang Mo Kio GRC, as part of the opposition party. However, it is stated, in his Facebook page, that he is 23 years old! How is it so, when I am 24 this year and we were in the same class in Secondary 3 & 4? ![]() ![]() ![]() Like I have mentioned earlier, I am totally neutral, because I have doubts in both PAP and the opposition parties. I agree that PAP had done a not-too-bad job in governing the country for the past many years, but of course, competition is required to remind them not to be complacent and to improve themselves. And yes, they may have made several mistakes, but who doesn't? Can the opposition guarantee that they will not make a single mistake if they were to be the ruling party? The biggest wrong move they did, for the elections this year, was bringing in TPL, who says that the costs of education and medical is low in Singapore. WTH, seriously? Then why are people taking study loans? I mean we can all understand why Singaporeans are so pissed with her, and whatever she says in interviews goes onto youtube. She's probably just rich and doesn't bother to find out what are the majority of the Singaporeans facing in Singapore. But, she's only one person. As for the opposition parties, I only have a deeper impression on Nicole Seah. Younger than TPL, I feel that she is more mature and probably smarter then her. I mean, her rally speeches are rather convincing. However, she's also only one person. In MY OPINION, which I hope i am entitled to, the rest of the opposition parties are not as prominent, or as famous, as her. Lastly, for my classmate in Secondary School. He's too low profile. Even though, he is the YOUNGEST candidate, whether true or not, I don't think anyone is very aware of his presence. |
