    Old Man's 29th Birthday!

Last Friday was Good Friday, Earth Day, and Baby's Birthday! So many good things happening on the same day. Since it was a public holiday, I booked a hotel room in Mandarin Orchard Hotel (please stop telling me it's Meritus Mandarin because the actual name of the hotel is Mandarin Orchard, which is in the Meritus group of hotels), from Agoda.

The room was supposed to be at a weekend special rate, S$199 per night, but after adding taxes and stuff, the total amount I paid was around S$240, which is way cheaper than if you have booked from the hotel directly.

We met at Orchard MRT Station at 11am and walked to the hotel, but there was an extremely long queue at the hotel, and only ONE check in counter. So we waited for quite some time in the queue.

He was busying replying the birthday wishes on FB while queuing.
Finally! We checked in and went up to our room.
As usual, some photos of our room. Having stayed in Carlton Hotel and this hotel, I personally feel that the rooms at Carlton hotel is way better! I paid around the same amount of money for both rooms but the room I got at Carlton was bigger and feels more cozy than this!

Slanted photo, due to my lousy photography skills. Hehe.
No splendid view from the hotel room.
    Another 歪掉的照片。

Surprised him with the presents moments after we finished taking photos of the room. He claimed that he was surprised, but there was NO trace of shock on his face. Haha.

Tadah!! I got his totally practical and useful stuff! An additional iPhone charger, so that he can charge his phone at home and in his office, and a 1TB external hard disk. I got him the hard disk because I have been using his eversince he got it, which is in turn due to my old hard disk not being compatible with Mac OS. Now everyone is happy, with one hard disk each.

After checking in, we went to have lunch. I wanted to bring him to Wild Honey, which is at Mandarin Gallery, but it was too crowded and there were alot of people queuing outside. Being hungry, we decided to go elsewhere, and ended up at Waraku.. boring, but because he's not particular with food, he was fine with anywhere.

After lunch, we went to the Singapore Flyer, because there was a promotion for SIA staff. But too bad it wasn't applicable on public holidays, so we decided to go back another time, and went strolling nearby.

While walking back to Cityhall, we saw a stretched limo! 1st time seeing it in real life, and in Singapore, so as a suaku, I MUST take a photo of it! Haha.
After that, we went back to the hotel room and told him I have planned for dinner at the Forum Galleria. I had planned a surprise, with kind help from JJ, and invited his friend to have dinner together. He was totally in the dark until we wanted to leave the hotel to walk to Forum, and when he removed my handphone from the charger, the screen lit up and he saw JJ's message to me saying "Meet there at 615".

Well, the surprise was only partly spoilt, as I lied to him and said that there's only JJ. Then, while walking there, and he was standing behind me on the escalator, JJ messaged again to tell me "We waiting at the basement", and he saw. So, in the end, he knew that there were more than JJ. Sigh. He said he was still shocked by the crowd though, because there were about 10 people, including us, and he was expecting 4-5. Hehe.

We forgot to take a group photo, but one of his couple friends bought him a water bottle for his birthday present. This couple also brought their 1+ year old son, and their son tried to kiss this Caucasian little girl! So adorable! Haha.
That's basically the end of the day. We went back to the hotel to sleep and checked out the next day.

While walking around in Orchard, we saw this interesting vending machine in ION. If you're hoping, like me, that the machine is selling hunks with great bodies, it's not. The machine sells briefs. Haha. How innovative! I wonder how many they sell per day.

Lastly, Singapore's General Elections is coming, and this year, it is so exciting!! Maybe it's also because I get to vote for the 1st time in my life this year.

I am quite neutral about the election, but I feel that PAP should provide better response for certain questions and issues, and stop threatening the voters, us, with the development in our area. Opposition parties are rather hardworking and gaining more support this year. I wonder who will win?

    Hello Kitty G[Mask]

Got a gmask for my iphone today! Double layer + Sanrio =$49. Expensive!! But since i keep dropping my phone and had gotten my last 2 phone cover cracked, a gmask may be more durable and economical for me.

    Already Gone - Kelly Clarkson

Remember all the things we wanted
Now all our memories they're haunted
We were always meant to say goodbye

Even with our fists held high
It never would've worked out right
We were never meant for do or die

I didn't want us to burn out
I didn't come here to hold you, now I can't stop

I want you to know that it doesn't matter
Where we take this road someone's gotta go
And I want you to know you couldn't have loved me better
But I want you to move on so I'm already gone

Looking at you makes it harder
But I know that you'll find another

That doesn't always make you want to cry

Started with a perfect kiss then we could feel the poison set in
Perfect couldn't keep this love alive
You know that I love you so, I love you enough to let you go

I want you to know that it doesn't matter
Where we take this road someone's gotta go
And I want you to know you couldn't have loved me better
But I want you to move on so I'm already gone

    I'm already gone, already gone
You can't make it feel right when you know that it's wrong
    I'm already gone, already gone
There's no moving on so I'm already gone

Already gone, already gone, already gone
Already gone, already gone, already gone, yeah

Remember all the things we wanted
Now all our memories they're haunted
We were always meant to say goodbye

I want you to know that it doesn't matter
Where we take this road someone's gotta go
And I want you to know you couldn't have loved me better
But I want you to move on so I'm already gone

    I'm already gone, already gone
You can't make it feel right when you know that it's wrong
    I'm already gone, already gone
There's no moving on so I'm already gone

    CitiBank's F-ing Lousy Service

I am so damn pissed with the CitiBank staff I met at the Tampines MRT Station today.

The whole event happened like this. I withdrew some cash to deposit into my step up account from the DBS ATM machine opposite the bus interchange and walked to the CitiBank @ Tampines Plaza. However, the machine there indicated that it was unable to process withdrawals and cash deposits, and this is not the 1st time this happened at that branch. Anyway, baby and I walked to the cash deposit machine at Tampines MRT station, in the Singapore's crazy weather, intending to use the machine there to deposit our money. But we got the same freaking message from the ATM machine.

Slightly pissed, mainly due to having to walk in the crazy weather, we proceeded to a small Citibank outlet at the front entrance of the MRT station. We wanted to go inside to ask if they provided cash deposit services, when this CitiBank staff approached us and asked if we needed any help. Since he asked, I asked if they provided the service I am seeking. Immediately, his attitude changed and without looking once into my eyes, he said no, and asked us to proceed to the ATM machine. I told him we have gone there and all the machines had the error messa...

Yes, he didn't let me finish my sentence and said blatantly, "Then you have to go elsewhere. We have already contacted the technician". WTF!! I should have taken a photo of his 嘴脸 when he was saying that! I bet his attitude would have been much better if i wanted to apply for credit card. Can't he at least apologise? Even though it's not something within his control, but a better thing to say would be, "I am sorry for the inconvenience, but our machines are down due to a technical glitch, and we are already getting our technicians to look into the matter. May i help you check when the matter will be resolved?" It would have made a hell lot of difference if he had apologised! Come on, not your fault, but it's CitiBank's bloody fault, and you're wearing the CitiBank Polo tee okay? And I am the customer, please show better service attitude.

I am going to take my savings away to other banks or purchase an endowment plan once I hit S$15K, which is soon! Maybe not alot for you (or for anyone, but i am very proud of my small sum of savings) but continue this kind of lousy service and you will lose more S$15Ks on a monthly basis. *BLEAH!!!*

And this is not my 1st unpleasant encounter with Citibank. Prior to this, I had failed to use my credit card for a S$2k purchase at the IT fair last year, when I am very sure it is within my credit limit and I don't really use my credit often. I wrote to Citibank after that to ask why this happened and requested them to revert regarding the actions taken to prevent this from happening again, but to-date, I have yet to get a reply from them.

Seriously, no wonder the bank has lousy credit ratings (from Stable to Negative in 2010). Bad service = Bad business.

    :)

    T.G.I.Friday's @ Somerset

Yesterday, Baby and I finally went to eat at T.G.I.Fridays. It was much anticipated by me because i have heard of so many people going there, and so many going back. However, it was seriously disappointing, from the food, to the service. The only good thing was that there was a street dance competition outside Hereen, which we could see from our seat.

    We ordered 3 courses:-
    Appetizer: Buffalo Chicken sonething
    Soup: French Onion Soup
    Main course: BBQ ribs

    The Appetizer
The word "Buffalo" reminded me of the level 30 buffalo chicken wings my sister had bought from Sunset Grill sometime ago. Naturally, I was expecting ULTRA SPICY, but what we were served was not even the slightest spicy.

Also, the chicken pieces were chicken breast meat, which was ultra dry. What's worse is the the food was not even warm when served and although the skin looks crispy like fried chicken nuggets in the picture, the skin was soggy. I have the feeling that the food was cooked 12 hours ago, heated up in the microwave oven, and served to us. Yuk!
Maybe someone had taken a bite from the chicken, causing the missing piece of skin.
    The Soup
If you know me, you would know that the following dish would turn me off, because I simply hate the smell of cheese. Perhaps it's my bad for expecting the french onion soup to be like the one I had from The French Stall, which had much less cheese.

Baby likes cheese, so he finished all of it, but he was too full for the other dishes after that. The soup was also too salty! It feels like you're drinking a bowl of salt water with onions. If you ever go to T.G.I.F., my advice is to NEVER order this soup.

    Main Course
The fries were special, maybe due to the seasoning they had sprinkled on top. The ribs were better than Cafe Cartel's, but not as good as Applebees' (Baby and I had Applebees the week before). Nothing special though. 吃了就忘了,没有记忆点。We ordered an additional side, because I love broccoli. However, like the soup, it was freaking salty. I think it's due to the sauce the broccoli was dipped in.
Overall verdict: I am rather sure I will not patron it again, unless absolutely necessary. And i constantly feel that the food was too salty, even for someone, like me, who prefers salty food. Also, the staff constantly had black face when serving us. As the table was rather small, there was a need to rearrange the plates when all the food were served (they were served very quickly, which makes me wonder if they food were cooked way beforehand), but instead of rearranging the plates, the waitress just used the plate on her hand, which was the food she was serving us, to push the other plates inwards to make space! Baby and I had to rearrange the plates while she was doing that so that out plates will not fall on the floor. I HATE LOUSY SERVICE.
