    三步一拜

    I went to volunteer at the 三步一拜, last Sunday, organised by the Singapore Buddhist Welfare Service, which is the place I attend my Buddhism classes every Sunday, at the Hougang Stadium. My duty was very simple. I just had to stand at the exit, which is the usual entrance to the stadium, and direct those who came to the correct entrance for the event.

    Although I did not take part in the 三步一拜, I managed to sneak into the stadium and watch the event take place. It was a very 壮观的仪式. 带领的师父穿着一件褐色的袈裟，跟的佛经的 rhythm，每走三步就跪下来拜一次。后面跟着很多穿着黑色袈裟的（归依了的人），跟着师父三步一拜。真的很壮观！Maybe I will take part next year!

    Fun facts:
    1. 释迦牟尼佛是佛教的教主，也是我们“最大”的佛。所以我们很多的佛经／歌里，都听得到“南无本师释迦牟尼佛”.
    2. 弥勒佛是佛教的下一个教主。但师父说，我们活不到他成为教主的时候。
    3. 如果你没归依，你只是佛教的同情者。归依了就是真正的佛教徒, or something like that. But I don't think that I need to go through some ceremony to become a real Buddhist, and I do not think that once someone have 归依, he/she will immediately become a "real" Buddhist.
    If I continue to be a good citizen, a good person, and act in accordance to the Buddhism teachings, I believe that I am a even better Buddhist than those who have already 归依, but are not acting in accordance with Buddhism teachings. Of course I am not saying that I am a very good Buddhist, or I am acting in accordance to all the Buddhism teachings, and all, because it is not easy to just become a totally new person, to do only good deeds, and to stop believing that all cockroaches should be killed! Haha.

    Maybe I am just not ready, because I really do not think that going through a ceremony, will make me a real Buddhist, or a better Buddhist. Probably people who are ready will think so, since there are so many people ho have done that.
