Saturday, April 30, 2011 Old Man's 29th Birthday! Last Friday was Good Friday, Earth Day, and Baby's Birthday! So many good things happening on the same day. Since it was a public holiday, I booked a hotel room in Mandarin Orchard Hotel (please stop telling me it's Meritus Mandarin because the actual name of the hotel is Mandarin Orchard, which is in the Meritus group of hotels), from Agoda. The room was supposed to be at a weekend special rate, S$199 per night, but after adding taxes and stuff, the total amount I paid was around S$240, which is way cheaper than if you have booked from the hotel directly. We met at Orchard MRT Station at 11am and walked to the hotel, but there was an extremely long queue at the hotel, and only ONE check in counter. So we waited for quite some time in the queue. He was busying replying the birthday wishes on FB while queuing. Well, the surprise was only partly spoilt, as I lied to him and said that there's only JJ. Then, while walking there, and he was standing behind me on the escalator, JJ messaged again to tell me "We waiting at the basement", and he saw. So, in the end, he knew that there were more than JJ. Sigh. He said he was still shocked by the crowd though, because there were about 10 people, including us, and he was expecting 4-5. Hehe. While walking around in Orchard, we saw this interesting vending machine in ION. If you're hoping, like me, that the machine is selling hunks with great bodies, it's not. The machine sells briefs. Haha. How innovative! I wonder how many they sell per day. Lastly, Singapore's General Elections is coming, and this year, it is so exciting!! Maybe it's also because I get to vote for the 1st time in my life this year. I am quite neutral about the election, but I feel that PAP should provide better response for certain questions and issues, and stop threatening the voters, us, with the development in our area. Opposition parties are rather hardworking and gaining more support this year. I wonder who will win? |
