Sunday, April 24, 2011 CitiBank's F-ing Lousy Service I am so damn pissed with the CitiBank staff I met at the Tampines MRT Station today. The whole event happened like this. I withdrew some cash to deposit into my step up account from the DBS ATM machine opposite the bus interchange and walked to the CitiBank @ Tampines Plaza. However, the machine there indicated that it was unable to process withdrawals and cash deposits, and this is not the 1st time this happened at that branch. Anyway, baby and I walked to the cash deposit machine at Tampines MRT station, in the Singapore's crazy weather, intending to use the machine there to deposit our money. But we got the same freaking message from the ATM machine. Slightly pissed, mainly due to having to walk in the crazy weather, we proceeded to a small Citibank outlet at the front entrance of the MRT station. We wanted to go inside to ask if they provided cash deposit services, when this CitiBank staff approached us and asked if we needed any help. Since he asked, I asked if they provided the service I am seeking. Immediately, his attitude changed and without looking once into my eyes, he said no, and asked us to proceed to the ATM machine. I told him we have gone there and all the machines had the error messa... Yes, he didn't let me finish my sentence and said blatantly, "Then you have to go elsewhere. We have already contacted the technician". WTF!! I should have taken a photo of his 嘴脸 when he was saying that! I bet his attitude would have been much better if i wanted to apply for credit card. Can't he at least apologise? Even though it's not something within his control, but a better thing to say would be, "I am sorry for the inconvenience, but our machines are down due to a technical glitch, and we are already getting our technicians to look into the matter. May i help you check when the matter will be resolved?" It would have made a hell lot of difference if he had apologised! Come on, not your fault, but it's CitiBank's bloody fault, and you're wearing the CitiBank Polo tee okay? And I am the customer, please show better service attitude. I am going to take my savings away to other banks or purchase an endowment plan once I hit S$15K, which is soon! Maybe not alot for you (or for anyone, but i am very proud of my small sum of savings) but continue this kind of lousy service and you will lose more S$15Ks on a monthly basis. *BLEAH!!!* And this is not my 1st unpleasant encounter with Citibank. Prior to this, I had failed to use my credit card for a S$2k purchase at the IT fair last year, when I am very sure it is within my credit limit and I don't really use my credit often. I wrote to Citibank after that to ask why this happened and requested them to revert regarding the actions taken to prevent this from happening again, but to-date, I have yet to get a reply from them. Seriously, no wonder the bank has lousy credit ratings (from Stable to Negative in 2010). Bad service = Bad business. |
