Friday, August 8, 2008 New Hobby Yesterday, peijun, meixin and I went to Arab Street to buy beads and crystals to make our own accessories. Actually, my real intention was to go there to buy the beads which i thought were very nice but i have no idea what i want to do with them. Anyway, i ended up buying $50+ worth of things but did not get the initial beads i wanted. When i reached home, i immediately started working on them. Here are all my creations... This is my virgin attempt!! It's an owl handphone accessory for peijun. Since she is not the girly type, i had quite a hard time finding a pendant suitable for her. I thought that this was quite unique, like her. Haha.  2nd creation. This is for meixin. This pendant is the one which she thinks is pretty, but for some reason, did not buy in the end. So i bought it and made it into a handphone accessory for her.  This is mine. I fell in love with the pendant once i saw it.  This one if for zhu en. I had even a harder time choosing for er since she was not there and there were no more nice pendants left. So i bought pretty beads for her. See the chain? I made it myself! I had to hook individual "connectors", or whatever they are called, together to form the chain. Very hard work. My fingers were very painful after that.  These are for darling's sisters. To be honest, beads are alot harder to make than pendants. I had to use this long wire to go through it and make a hook on top of each bead so that they can be hooked to the strap. Very tough on the fingers too. The ring used to connect the crystal heart to the strap is also made using that wire, since the rings i bought were too small. Sadly, my handicraft is not very fantastic yet. There are lots of flaws if you look closely.  I made this in the afternoon. I wanted to make a bag charm for my new, but not so new already, bag quite some time ago but i did not have the chance to go to Arab street until yesterday. The big heart crystal was from very long time ago. It was meant to be a pendant but i've never worn it before. Haha. Now, it's my bag charm.  The one on the left is for my mother. Her friend came in the afternoon and saw me doing it and my mother asked me to do one for her too. These 2 are the hardest to do because for each bead, there are 2 hooks to be made on each side of the bead so that they can be connected in a line. I stopped doing after i finished these 2 because my fingers were hurting so much and i had to leave my last strap for my sister.  I'm very proud of my creations. For a 1st timer, i think i did quite well. Haha. I'll do more in the future for my other friends if these few get good comments from their receivers. *smiles* |
